Want a free massage? Find out inside

"Angry Lake Michigan"

I got a much needed reprieve from the cold wind as I walked down the many steps to the subway platform.  While waiting on a train I caught a glimpse of the world I left behind on a flower covered poster that read "Come join us this week at Navy Pier."  Ah!, that's the reason, I left sunshine filled  80 degree days - The Chicago Flower and Garden Show.  Yep!  I had to endure snow, ice, and 40 to 50 mile an hour wind blowing off an angry Lake Michigan to get there, but I was glad I did once inside.  There were 30 different exhibits showing off their best.  The show had a theme centered around two concepts:  How to make composting and recycling a family or community activity, and get the right plant for the right place.  The second one really spoke to me since I always have to deal with the misinformation big box stores put out, leaving consumers mad and confused.  The most unique exhibit I saw was a large reflecting pool that doubles as a hockey rink in the winter.  I know, I know, not much need for this in Florida. They even used hockey sticks to make up the fence around the pool.  If you would like to know more about the Chicago Flower and Garden Show, check out their website at www.chicagoflower.com

If you're interested in knowing more about recycling, composting, and rain gardens, the Leon County Extension Office is a great source of information.  They have just broken ground on their new water recycling system.  Check it out sometime or call Jon Brown @ 606 5300.

Do you know how to cook with Hosta?

No?  Neither do I.  For one thing Hostas are not very hot plants; they are cool and relaxing.  Their various shades of green are calming to the mind and spirit, yet they are edible.  The Japanese cook with them and use them in salads.  Younger shoots are preferred.  While I am sure they are delicious, they are also deciduous perennials that love to be planted in shade to part shade.  While these lovely plants are mostly grown for their foliage, they do bloom in various shades of pink, white and lavender.  The blooms usually arrive in late June and July.    We have the following varieties available: Fragrant, Francee, Patriot, and Wide Brim.

Hotel Duval gets a new look!

We will be giving the Hotel Duval a little facelift in the coming days.  We are changing out the landscape plants in the containers out front and working our magic.  Be sure to honk as you pass by.  We may not be able to wave since our hands will be full, but we will be sure to smile.

Now Hiring!  In Tallahassee!

We are looking for an outside sale person. We are interested in individuals who work well with others and are motivated by a well done.  They need to be personable, socially out going and caring.   We are looking for more sale experience than landscaping, but if they have both it is a plus.  If you know of someone, please refer them to our face book page and or call the office @422 3001.

We are also looking for looking for lawn and landscaping techs.  Both positions are described in our Face book Careers tab. They can apply online at Admin@dickersonlandscaping.com or call 422 3001.
End your promotion with a kick - consider a postscript to reinforce one of the key product or service benefits.

Sincerely,
